He was a good guy with a lot of education. By that I mean a guy who doesn’t make any kind of problems in racing, in speaking, in everything. He had an ability to understand machines, for sure, and there is no discussion about this. My opinion is that he was born with it.

He had something different from all the others. What was it? That’s hard to explain, but it was the feeling he had for the kart and later on in Formula 1. It was absolutely unusual. When I looked at him in Formula 1 I did not see the same man that I had seen in karting: he was quicker in karting!

He gave the maximum in karting. If a good driver there gave 100% Ayrton gave 125. Anyone in karting will tell you the same: he was far superior to everybody.

Senna’s first World Championship was at Le Mans in 1978, when he finished sixth.

Ele era um bom rapaz com muita educação. Por isso quero dizer um cara que não faz qualquer tipo de problemas em corridas, ao falar, em tudo. Ele tinha uma habilidade para entender as máquinas, com certeza, e não há nenhuma discussão sobre isso. Minha opinião é que ele nasceu com ele.

Ele tinha algo diferente de todos os outros. O que foi? Isso é difícil de explicar, mas era o sentimento que ele tinha para o kart e, mais tarde, na Fórmula 1. Era absolutamente incomum. Quando eu olhei para ele na Fórmula 1, eu não vi o mesmo homem que eu tinha visto em karting: ele foi mais rápido em karting!

Ele deu o máximo em karting. Se um bom motorista não deu 100% de Ayrton deu 125. Qualquer pessoa no karting vai dizer a mesma coisa: ele era muito superior a todos.

Primeiro Campeonato Mundial de Senna estava em Le Mans em 1978, quando terminou em sexto.
